Baby on Board

Rosie is about to welcome a baby girl in September. To celebrate, she wanted to throw a budget-friendly, beach-themed baby shower. To make sure her party was special, she hired Love, Rose for finding the venue and handling the decorations.

For the venue, she wanted to celebrate in a park. I found a park pavilion in her town that had a sun-room setup and included its own tables and chairs. If you are a citizen of the town, you are able to get a discount on reserving the space. It was a very DIY, making it a blank canvas to have some fun.

The main focal point Love, Rose created was the balloon arch, accompanied by a hand-made VW cutout. The backdrop is actually a twin size blanket so that it can be used for the baby girl. The cutout was made from cardboard, paint, vinyl, gems, and a designed license plate. For the welcome sign, Love, Rose borrowed Rosie's surfboard and created a custom removable vinyl decal. For the guestbook, guests were asked to write messages on sand dollars and place them in a vase.

For the activities, Rosie invited her improvisational acting teacher to come in to play games with the guests. It got all of the guests out of their shells and was a way to try something other than the traditional shower games.

Lastly, the food was provided by a local deli less than five minutes from Rosie's house and the desserts were provided by one of the shower guests.
