Lachenmayr Farms was hard at work. They placed tender, love, and care into making their farm the perfect wedding space for their son, Andrew. The family was getting ready for Andrew to marry the love of his life, Laurel Ann. Everyone involved in the wedding rolled up their sleeves to make sure everything was in place, from the tents to the candies in the jars. Laurel Ann was very on top of her planning, tracking every lineup, song, budget sheet, and farm map. The result was a well-crafted family farm wedding.
How did the Lachenmayr's make this a wedding to remember? They made it an Oktoberfest! As guests arrived, they were welcomed with water, a beer keg, and seating near an intimate barn. Potted plants lined the aisles with flags depicting the family crest. When the ceremony was over, everyone moved over to the cocktail hour tent. Upon entering, guests were encouraged to grab a beer stein with Laurel Ann and Andrew's name on it. From there, they were welcomed to fill them with the beer or drink of their choosing. Oktoberfest themed hors d'oeuvres were served on the bar buffet-style from staff dressed in authentic German clothing.
Theme aside, Laurel and Andrew added personal touches that were solely exclusive to their event. I designed a logo for them that resembled a brand of beer. From there, they used that logo for a canvas banner, footer for the drinks menu, and decal for a mirror. That mirror was used as a prop for a photo op spot a few feet away from the reception tent. For their invitations, I designed a piece that resembled the cover of a farmer's almanac. The back had details of the wedding, displayed in the style of an almanac's interior page.
The more that I talk with couples, the more they shy away from cake and more towards a dessert that they personally enjoy. Instead of cake, they sourced delicious cheesecake cupcakes topped with icing flowers. Pies and cookies were also served. Instead of using the cake topper as something to decorate a cake, it became the table centerpiece for the dessert buffet. To further help guests satiate a sweet tooth, jarred candies were placed around the tents.
Lyell, a long-time friend of Andrew, made a speech saying that the Lachenmayr's are very giving people. All the hard work and giving spirit shined in Laurel Ann and Andrew's wedding. The two of them, along with their families, gave everyone a night to remember. Laurel Ann and Andrew, it was a joy to be a part of such a fun, unique, and spirited day. Próst!
