Mountaintop Wedding

Updated: Sep 14, 2023

Gilat and Elliot came to me at the beginning stages of their wedding planning. They were looking to get married somewhere in northern New Jersey or even around the Warwick, New York area. After reviewing and touring a few venues, the couple landed on Mountain Creek in Vernon, New Jersey. They loved the gorgeous mountain-top views for the ceremony and warm, welcoming atmosphere in their Red Tail Lodge.

Their day was a representation of their creativity, love of music, and Jewish heritage. The venue was covered in bright, jewel-toned flowers provided by J&M. Gilat and Elliot utilized every bit of communal table space to showcase the artwork they've created for one another, including a large pencil sketch of Elliot playing a guitar by Gilat. Their love of music was epitomized through their guestbook—a double neck guitar Elliot made himself. Instead of table numbers, the bride and groom opted for hand-made string art of their favorite animals, mounted on wooden trivets. Guests sat at uniquely set tables, with names ranging from "Labrador" to "Elephant."

For their ceremony, they signed a gorgeous ketubah and were wed by their rabbi, who guided them through the traditions. To complete the space, a chuppah was situated right at the mountain's edge with wine and glasses underneath. In order for this to happen, everyone boarded gondolas up to the top of a mountain, over 1,400 feet above sea level! Everyone was met with such stunning views and clear skies. A view like that is pretty rare for a New Jersey venue.

When it came time for the cocktail hour and reception, Gilat and Elliot made sure every guest did not leave hungry, no matter the dietary restriction. They made sure there were special treats and meals for those who kept gluten-free and Kosher diets. There were even two cakes, one gluten free for Gilat and Elliot, and another for the guests. For the couple's cake, the bakery sculpted a little puppy peeking out from the side of the cake. All of it was set to a lovely violin and guitar duo, Owls and Lions, followed by Spinner's perfectly-timed music.

Gilat and Elliot, you two are smart, creative souls who deserve the happiest of marriages. Mazel tov!
