As an art nerd, I'm a huge fan of weddings based around famous painters. For Joy and Mike, art is one of the many threads that make up the tapestry of their marriage. After the worst of the pandemic, they downsized and had a micro wedding at the Grounds for Sculpture and Rat's Restaurant. The venue is an art lover's dream. It features amazing sculptures, 3D replicas of famous French paintings, Giverny-esque gardens, and a restaurant inspired by Monet's and Van Gogh's France.
For a venue with a lot of character, Joy and Mike embraced it. They opted for bright blue glassware, colorful plates, and a flower palette reminiscent of Van Gogh's paintings. Joy's sister, Janet, embraced the DIY aspect of weddings by making the table cards, table name cards, cake sign, and the photo booth sign. As a favor, guests were able to take home cupcakes from Blue Sheep Bake Shop, topped with colorful icing and pearl sprinkles. To help guests navigate the venue, Love, Rose customized a map of the Grounds.
Most importantly, Joy and Mike were able to celebrate their union in front of friends and family, all with a smile on their faces. The two balance each other, and it's plain to see that they will have a successful marriage ahead of them. Congrats to one amazing couple and thank you for having me plan your special day!
